👋 Happy Monday!

Welcome to this week’s edition of The Connection!

Port St. Lucie is making national headlines again — this time as one of the top 20 U.S. cities for remote work, thanks to a thriving coffee shop scene and strong workspace amenities. Closer to home, Lowe's just announced a brand-new Tradition location bringing over 100 jobs to the area, and St. Lucie County's hospitals are in the middle of a major growth spurt. This week's nonprofit spotlight features The Royal Palms, a Treasure Coast women's group making sure every local student gets their moment to shine at prom.

🐝 What’s Buzzing: Local News

Port St. Lucie Ranks Among Top 20 U.S. Cities for Remote Work

A new study by customer experience platform Nextiva ranked Port St. Lucie No. 20 out of 200 U.S. cities for remote work in 2026, based on the quality of "third place" workspaces — think coffee shops, libraries, and other public spots where people can work and connect outside the home or office. PSL earned top marks across the board, with all 25 of its top-rated coffee shops holding 4-star reviews or higher, full Wi-Fi availability, and confirmed seating and outlet access — a strong signal that the city's infrastructure is keeping pace with the growing remote workforce calling PSL home.

St. Lucie County Hospitals Expanding to Keep Up with Growing Demand

St. Lucie County's four hospitals are in the middle of a significant growth wave, with new construction, service additions, and equipment upgrades underway across the region. At HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, the final beam was recently placed on a new floor that will add 32 beds — bringing total capacity to 529 — with an opening planned for early next year. A five-story, 591-space parking garage has also been approved for the site to handle increased patient and visitor traffic, with 10 spaces dedicated to electric vehicles.

Lowe's Announces New Port St. Lucie Store Opening in June

Lowe's is bringing a brand-new location to 13845 SW Village Parkway in Tradition, with an opening planned for early June. The store will span 94,000 square feet of retail space plus a 30,000-square-foot garden center, and will create more than 100 new jobs in the area. Hiring is already underway — a welcome boost for the local workforce and another major retail anchor for the fast-growing Tradition corridor.
