👋 Happy Monday!
Welcome to this week’s edition of The Connection!
Port St. Lucie just claimed the top spot in the country — Consumer Affairs ranked PSL the No. 1 mid-size housing market for buyers in 2026, pointing to growing inventory and strong affordability. Closer to home, a brand-new neighborhood market opened its doors on Port St. Lucie Boulevard, and up the coast, the Indian River Mall in Vero Beach is unveiling big plans for a major transformation. This week's nonprofit spotlight features Hope in Gray, a Florida-based foundation turning personal loss into a lifeline for brain cancer patients and their families.

🐝 What’s Buzzing: Local News
Port St. Lucie Ranked No. 1 Mid-Size Housing Market for Buyers in the Country
A new study by Consumer Affairs has named Port St. Lucie the top mid-size housing market for buyers in the United States for 2026, citing affordability and availability among cities with populations between 250,000 and 499,000. According to Zillow, the average home price in the area sits at just over $380,000 — down more than three percent from last year — and local real estate agents say buyers are now walking into neighborhoods with five to seven homes to choose from rather than competing in bidding wars. For businesses, the message is clear: new residents are arriving, and PSL continues to grow.
Indian River Mall in Vero Beach Unveils Plans for Major Renovation
The Indian River Mall in Vero Beach is moving toward a significant reinvention, with plans to transform the old food court into a family entertainment hub — potentially featuring a trampoline park or ice-skating rink — while the east side of the property, including the former Sears and Macy's spaces, would be replaced with outdoor retail and a drive-thru restaurant. Sprouts Farmers Market is expected to be among the incoming tenants, and the vision blends the mall's existing indoor anchor tenants with a more modern, mixed-use outdoor experience. The project is currently working through the county's approval process, with no construction timeline confirmed yet.
Dayly's Farm Market Opens in Port St. Lucie with a Neighborhood-First Approach
Dayly's Farm Market opened April 18 at 464 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd. in the Coco Vista Center plaza — the former Nutrition S'Mart location — bringing a full-service fresh market experience to the neighborhood. Beyond the standard grocery departments, shoppers can find a live lobster tank, old-fashioned butcher shop, sushi, housemade soups, freshly squeezed juices, custom subs, Italian dishes, and a machine that cuts fruit to order. It's a locally focused concept that fills a real gap in the area's food retail landscape, and one worth checking out.
