🐝 What’s Buzzing: Local News
City Offering Temporary Yard Waste Relief
After the recent cold snap left many PSL yards covered in wilted leaves, browned fronds, and fallen branches, the City's Office of Solid Waste is temporarily increasing the curbside yard waste limit from 4 to 6 cubic yards — roughly the size of three washer-and-dryer sets placed side by side. The expanded collection runs March 30 through April 24, 2026, at no additional cost to residents. All standard yard waste guidelines remain in effect, so have your debris curbside and ready to go.
Port St. Lucie Named One of Florida's Top Retirement Destinations for 2026
Real estate experts have named Port St. Lucie one of seven Florida waterfront towns poised to become a retirement hot spot this year, highlighting a median home price of $381,910 and a growing supply of new construction in 55+ communities. Compared to the more congested and expensive counties just to the south, PSL offers an appealing mix of affordability, modern amenities, and a golf cart-friendly lifestyle. For local businesses, this trend points to continued population growth and an expanding customer base for years to come.
Southern Grove Jobs Corridor Approaches Full Buildout
The Port St. Lucie Governmental Finance Corporation authorized two major land sales at their March meeting, leaving just 22 acres remaining in the 1,200-acre Southern Grove Jobs Corridor — a milestone city officials called remarkable. One sale was to Costco, while Tambone Companies, LLC acquired 7.36 acres at SW Village Parkway and the future Destination Way, with plans for a 42-bed, 55,800-square-foot acute care facility on four of those acres. With healthcare identified as an underrepresented sector in the corridor, Tambone indicated the remaining acreage could also be developed for medical use — adding another major anchor to what is quickly becoming one of PSL's most significant commercial and employment hubs.
