👋 Happy Monday!
Welcome to this week’s edition of The Connection!
This week, the community came together in a big way—from restaurants offering free meals amid a SNAP benefits lapse to the city approving Port St. Lucie’s first-ever professional soccer stadium. Plus, a local beachside landmark changes hands, and we highlight the important work of Treasure Coast Hospice, providing compassion and care when it matters most.

🐝 What’s Buzzing: Local News
Restaurants, food truck offer free meals amid SNAP lapse
As more than 80,000 Treasure Coast residents entered November without their regular SNAP (food stamp) payments, several local eateries have stepped up to help.
Taj Indian Restaurant & Bar (Port St. Lucie) is offering free meals Tuesday–Sunday, 11:30 am–2:30 pm, to anyone affected by the lapse. Owner Dc said the restaurant has already served meals to 35 families and has a history of feeding the community during crises.
Sweeties Diner (Fort Pierce) has also reopened its free meal program, extending help to anyone in need, not just SNAP recipients.
Curbside Gourmet Food Truck (Martin County), operated by Matt Somsy, is parking at houses of worship to distribute meals to struggling neighbors.
In a time of uncertainty, these local businesses are showing the true heart of the Treasure Coast.
Port St. Lucie approves deal for city’s first pro soccer stadium
After a heated public meeting and hours of debate, the Port St. Lucie City Council voted unanimously to move forward with plans for a 6,000-seat United Soccer League stadium.
The stadium will be built at the Walton & One mixed-use development along U.S. 1, marking a major step toward launching Port St. Lucie SC, the city’s first professional soccer team.
While public opinions were divided, city officials said the project will bring new jobs, tourism, and energy to the city’s east side.
Archie’s Seabreeze sold for $2 million
A Fort Pierce favorite is entering a new chapter. The iconic Archie’s Seabreeze, a beloved beachside restaurant and bar on South Hutchinson Island, has been sold for $2 million to local developer Phil Thompson.
“We just think it’s a great establishment, and we’re carrying on Patty’s legacy,” Thompson said of the long-running local landmark. The new owners plan to preserve the laid-back, community-driven spirit that made Archie’s a coastal institution.
