🐝 What’s Buzzing: Local News
City breaks ground on $21M Torino Regional Park
Port St. Lucie officially broke ground on the first phase of the 195-acre Torino Regional Park on Dec. 9, marking the start of construction on a $21.4 million, multi-purpose destination designed for residents of all ages. Located at 5601 N. Torino Parkway, the park will feature a major skatepark and BMX track expected to open by fall 2027, along with a “Play Forest” playground, splash pad, and a hiking trail through existing wetlands, positioning the park as a major recreational asset for the city’s growing northwest corridor.
Land donation clears path for new fire station in Martin County
A long-discussed western Martin County fire station is now expected to move forward after developer Ashley Capital agreed to donate roughly six acres near Interstate 95 as part of the Martin Commerce Park project. The donation, tied to a large industrial development planned to bring more than one million square feet of space to the area, removes a key barrier county officials had faced in securing land for emergency services, addressing growing response needs in the region.
Costco distribution depot bringing 380 jobs to Port St. Lucie
A new 1.8 million-square-foot Costco distribution depot is set to open in Port St. Lucie beginning in March, creating approximately 380 jobs with an average salary of $55,000 per year. Located in the Southern Grove Job Corridor along I-95, the two-phase facility will serve as the primary distribution hub for all Costco stores in Florida, with the second phase launching in August to handle large-item fulfillment such as furniture shipped directly to customers.
