Community rallies around Martin County couple after devastating house fire
Bruce and Barbra Osborn, longtime Martin County residents known for more than 30 years of volunteer service and local historical preservation, are receiving widespread community support after losing their home and belongings in a late-night house fire. The couple, who regularly volunteer at sites including the House of Refuge and Sewall’s House in Jensen Beach, escaped safely, and friends and neighbors have mobilized to help them rebuild in recognition of their decades of service.
Florida cowboys revive heritage in Great Florida Cattle Drive
More than 300 participants gathered in Okeechobee County for the Great Florida Cattle Drive, a five-day, 80-mile trek from Yeehaw Junction to Okeechobee that honors the state’s 19th-century cattle-driving traditions. Participants drove approximately 500 head of cattle across ranchland, camping outdoors and using historic methods to preserve and celebrate Florida’s deep ranching heritage.
$50M restoration brings new life to Sandpiper Resort
The historic Sandpiper Resort along the St. Lucie River has begun reopening following an ongoing $50 million restoration under the voco brand, part of InterContinental Hotels Group. The revitalization adds new amenities including pools, sports courts, dining options, and family attractions, and is expected to generate approximately 100 new jobs in eastern Port St. Lucie, strengthening the area’s tourism and hospitality workforce.

⚡ The Spotlight: Changemakers
The Inner Truth Project
The Inner Truth Project is a Port St. Lucie–based nonprofit that provides a safe, compassionate space for individuals who have experienced abuse or violations of personal boundaries to find healing and support. At the Inner Truth Center — the first of its kind on the Treasure Coast — participants can access free therapy, peer support groups, and holistic workshops focused on healing, resilience, and empowerment.
The organization is dedicated to changing the conversation around abuse by reducing stigma and reminding people they are not alone and never at fault for what they’ve experienced. In addition to direct services, Inner Truth Project also provides community education centered on prevention and trauma-informed care.
